URGENT HELP – DONATIONS NEEDED – PLEASE SHARE
We need your urgent help. Please please help us tonight.
Our newest rescue litter- Spongebob, Patrick, Sandy and Pearl were given to us with parvovirus. At the time their breeder surrendered them they appeared fine- but within 12hrs they were having severe vomiting and bloody diarrhoea. They were taken straight to the clinic for testing and yep- all 4 were positive.
Terrible news and infuriating as if they'd been vaccinated this wouldn't happen!! This was meant to be the last litter we helped with at this house to end the cycle. We were asked to take 2x 6 month olds last October, who were from this dog's last litter. As we arrived to take them, we realised she'd been bred again on the next heat- and was literally giving birth to the next litter as we stood there!!
We committed to taking the 2 teens, desexing this poor mum and taking the new litter on when they were old enough. We even agreed to take another dog, from ANOTHER litter born there a couple of years ago. If we took all those, and desexed the female for her owner-nobody left there could breed. But we weren't expecting parvo.
Parvovirus is highly contagious and can survive for long periods in the environment.
The virus can withstand cleaning and weather changes, meaning the spread of the virus is hard to control. It can be easily transferred on the paws and shoes of dogs and humans or other items contaminated with the virus, like bedding. It is passed in the faeces of infected animals.
The 4 puppies spent the next few days in isolation, being given fluids, pain relief and antibiotics. They all thankfully recovered so we took them home!
However Patrick (pictured) relapsed 2 days later, and had to go back in. The others also needed more help from medications and prescription diets. With 4x large breed puppies eating prescription biscuits $20/kg and needing litres of f10 to sanitise the houses and yards we are fast running out of supplies and money
As you can imagine, the last few days have been physically and mentally tough on the entire team. We’ve had very little sleep and the stress levels have been at an all time high.
Our bank balance has been completely drained. We urgently need help to raise $3,000 to pay for the vet bills and supplies.
We can't do this without you. We can't take on any new rescue dogs until we get this paid.
Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us over the line. It’s just the cost of your coffee in the morning but one that will help save more lives.
Can you answer the call? Can you answer the call of our pups crying for help?
We are counting on you.
