Wilson is a 6 month old german shepherd cross with very small eyes (Bilateral Microphthalmia). There is no treatment for this condition, and Wilson does not let it get in his way of enjoying life which is easy to see when you look at that big grin! This however is the least of his problems. Wilson came to ABC after an accident left him with a broken front right leg. Over the last week of settling into care, this has been suspected to be giving him more pain and discomfort than originally thought.
Wilson headed in to see our vets and have a check over and X-rays. X-rays revealed that Wilson had fractured his right radius and Ulna, this had heeled incorrectly and bowed his radius.
This meant Wilson would need amputation for him to live a pain free life. We also did hip X-rays to make sure they would cope with the pressure of 3 legs. Amputation surgery is going to cost us just under $1200 this won’t include any follow up appointments.
If you can please donate even just a little to help Wilson on his path to recovery please do. This beautiful boy needs to be out of pain sooner rather than later!
