URGENT HELP! WE NEED DONATIONS – THIS IS NOT A DRILL
We need your help… I’m just going to put it all out on the table tonight. Since December we have taken on several large litter dogs that were dumped or due to be dumped in the pound. Three litters, one of 13 puppies, one of 12 puppies and one of 10 puppies. This is long term care as each dog doesn’t leave us without their vet work being done and being minimum age of 12 weeks. That’s a lot of food and puppy pads. We have had dogs surrendered with untreated hip issues, knee surgeries and hernia repairs that have be done.
One senior dog who will live his life out with us, who has extensive dental work needed. We have helped take in over 17 dogs ( as one was pregnant and went on to have 6 puppies later)from a bad breeder / hoarder situation. You may remember Kesha who was starved to skin and bones when she arrived and has thankfully been getting better since joining SEQ. All of those puppies that arrive then went on to have extensive vet treatments and speciality food because they arrived anemic, covered in fleas, with severe hook worm and coccidia. We have had 2 horrible cases of parvo in two different areas, that has claimed the lives of 8 of our puppies, our carers are still heartbroken and struggling to overcome the sadness of such a loss of life from human stupidity and people who don’t vaccinate and desex their dogs.
We have had dogs in need of extra treatment for muscle related issues from bad nutrition in their early developmental stages. Dogs that require special diets and shampoos. We have been completely flooded and overwhelmed with the amount of dogs in need, especially in such poor health when they have arrived. Donations have been helping us get by but it seems once we have over come one hurdle - we have a new mountain to climb. There you go – I’ve put it out there – I think it’s really important you understand how tough rescue is. It’s constant – it doesn’t stop and as fate has it, we normally have to step in at tricky times of the day – midnight calls, weekend calls, early mornings – it’s just all part of it.
So tonight, I’m counting on you. I’m counting on you as you sit back on the couch with your loved ones relaxing with the TV on, to chip in. To chip in to cover our mounting costs which are now over $5,000 and growing by the day (gulp). Think about our foster carers and teams out there helping our puppies and dogs. Just $5 from each of you, the cost of a block of chocolate is all we need from each and every one of you. Please help us.
