My love for science and my long blonde hair are two things for which I am well known and are also the two things which have lead me to the decision to shave my head in support of Leukaemia research.
It all began December 2017. Curtesy of the Schools Research Project Masterclass, I had the pleasure of attending a tour of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI). It left a great impression on me and as such, I was overjoyed to be given the opportunity to spend a week of work experience with Bron, Tam and the Leukaemia research group (2018). During this week, both in and out of the lab, I gained a profound understanding of the importance of Leukaemia research in improving people's lives. I was touched by the stories of survivors and awed by the impressive feats being achieved by the research group.
I have had waist length blonde hair most of my life and now I would like to shave my head to raise money for SAHMRI's groundbreaking Leukaemia research. I want to share my hair with someone who has lost their's as a result of Leukaemia. My hair will be donated to Locks of Love and the proceeds of this campaign will be donated to SAHMRI’s Leukaemia research team, to better the prospects of young Leukaemia patients! Please join me in this venture by donating to this campaign and spreading the love.
You can’t change the world but you can change someone's world!
Ps. Come along to the shaving of my head on Friday the 16th of August for a 4pm start. The event will be held at SAHMRI. Just bring yourself and some friends. More event details on FB at https://www.facebook.com/events/2406481249633513/
