In March 2014 I travelled to Livingstone, Zambia with George Gregan and a group of Sydney junior rugby coaches to help develop "tag rugby" in primary schools around the Livingstone area in conjunction with UK-based charity, Tag Rugby Trust (TRT).
We subsequently set up a charity in Australia, Livingstone Rugby Club Zambia Trust (LRCZT), to set up and run a community based rugby club, the Livingstone Rhinos, providing a location at Bharats Sports Fields to engage with the local community not just around rugby but also through education in partnership with Happy Africa Foundation (HAF).
In December 2017, I returned to Zambia with my eldest son Scott (post his Yr 12 HSC exams) along with George Gregan and another group of coaches, gain working in the schools but also in the community more broadly as we continue to further embed the great work at the Rhinos and by TRT over the last 4 years.
We aim to raise AU$20-25k per year to support our community rugby program, which pays for renting a ground and clubhouse plus a ground keeper and someone to run the schools program, along with other day to day costs including supporting of the use of our clubhouse for adult literacy, HIV and other education.
Thanks in advance for your support.
