Last night, we were faced with an emergency.
Eli was withdrawn, not interested in eating, and vomiting.
This was very concerning to us, as Eli is your typical clown of a frenchie - bouncy, loving, enthusiastic about everything - especially food!
He was taken straight to the vet, by which time he wasn't able to stand. Once admitted it was determined that he had a bladder stone blocking his urethra - which meant he was unable to urinate, and his bladder was filling with urine. This is obviously a situation that requires immediate attention. Due to the hour, and the seriousness of the situation, we immediately transferred him to a 24 hour specialty hospital to perform the procedure.
Horrifically, while this was being performed, his bladder ruptured.
Eli is now fighting for his life. He underwent emergency surgery in the middle of the night to repair the rupture and clear the urine from his bloodstream, and is now in a critical condition. We do not know what the next few days will bring, but we do know that he is in the best place to try and get him home again.
As you all know, we provide the best care we can for our animals. Unfortunately, this doesn't come cheap. Costs have skyrocketed, and what was going to be a $900 procedure has already cost us thousands, with each day admitted costing an extra $900. Just to get him through the weekend and hopefully discharged to his regular vet is estimated to cost $4280.
We desperately need help to pay this bill, so that we can continue to treat Eli. Without treatment, he will not make it.
